"The CEO Review: Weekly Review"

Most 'weekly reviews' are task-list maintenance — what got done, what's left. This one runs like a personal board meeting: scoreboard, wins, blockers (especially recurring ones), lessons, and three priorities for next week. Maximum three.

What this skill does

Without a weekly review, weeks blend together. You can't tell whether you're progressing or just staying busy, and the same blockers keep showing up because you never paused to notice them. The CEO Review is the forcing function — every seven days, you assess, adjust, and recommit. It runs in five phases, takes 20-30 minutes, and produces a document you can re-read in three months when patterns become obvious.

The Scoreboard opens with last week's priorities — complete, partial, missed, or deliberately deprioritised, plus the energy/satisfaction/stress readings and an honest sustainability verdict. Wins comes second on purpose — starting with failures trains you to dread the review. At least three wins, and the question that matters: why did they go well? Was it preparation, timing, or luck? Can you replicate the conditions? Blockers runs the pattern check: is this the same blocker as last week? Recurring blockers are the most important finding any review produces. A one-off blocker is noise. The same blocker three weeks running is a system problem that needs structural change, not more willpower.

Lessons pulls insight across three layers — about your work, about how you operate, about your business or career — and asks the question that surfaces the real lesson rather than the polite one: what one thing would you do differently if you could rewind the week? Next week caps priorities at three. Not ten. Not seven. Three, each with a "done looks like" criterion and a specific first action. The cap is the discipline. The skill also forces a protect list (the non-negotiable focus blocks) and a let go list — what you're intentionally not doing next week. The let-go list is the underrated one. Explicit choices about what not to do prevent the guilt-driven context-switching that wrecks priorities.

A few honest moves built in. If there were no prior priorities (first review or skipped week), the skill reconstructs retroactively — "what did you actually spend time on?" — rather than refusing to run. If the sustainability verdict is "Unsustainable" three weeks running, that's flagged as a system problem, not a willpower problem; the workload needs restructuring. And the skill keeps the review short. If it's taking more than half an hour, you're overthinking it — close the laptop, start Monday with Priority 1.
