Social Media Audit
Most social media audits are 12 slides of 'try posting at peak hours' and 'engage more with your audience' — advice you could've got from a 2018 Medium post. The Social Media Audit produces a graded diagnostic with 3-5 ranked changes, plus the honest answer to 'is my content actually the problem, or is it something else?'
What this skill does
Most people can't see their own content clearly. They're too close to the work, they've confused effort with effectiveness, and the vanity metrics they're tracking aren't the ones that matter. A good audit closes the gap between what they think their content is doing and what it's actually doing. This skill is built to do that without softening the answer — but also without the brutalism-as-marketing tone that some "audits" lean on to seem sharp.
It runs in five sections, always the same order. What's actually working (real strengths first, because criticism lands better after recognition — and because most people genuinely don't know which of their posts are outperformers). Profile and first-impression audit (what a new visitor sees before any content does its job). Content strategy audit (pillar balance, hook quality, value clarity, CTA variety). Engagement audit (reply behaviour, outbound comments, the part most people skip). Positioning audit (niche clarity, differentiation, authority signals). Each gets a 1-10 score with a one-line justification so you can see the shape of the problem at a glance.
The most valuable part is usually the positioning section — because that's where the real diagnosis lives. Many people pour effort into improving their content when the actual problem is that they have no differentiator from the fifty other people in their niche, or that their content reaches an audience who will never buy. The skill names that honestly when it sees it. If the niche is genuinely too crowded for generic content, you get told. If your content is fine but your distribution strategy is the bottleneck (no outbound engagement, no comment game), you get told that too. The honest answer matters more than a tidy list.
The output ends with one to two quick wins you can do in under 10 minutes (rewrite a weak headline, pin a top-performing post, add a CTA to your bio) and then a priority action plan — three to five changes ranked by impact-to-effort, not by what's easiest. Never twenty. Twenty recommendations is the same as zero recommendations, because nobody implements twenty things. Three to five is the number that actually gets done, which is the number that actually moves the metrics.
When this triggers
- ·You've been posting consistently for months and growth has stalled — you can't see why
- ·Engagement is fine but it's not turning into leads, follows, or anything that matters
- ·Someone said 'your profile needs work' and you don't know which part they meant
- ·You want a second pair of eyes before redoing your whole strategy
- ·You're handing socials to someone and need a brief that names the actual problems
Example
Trigger
User pastes a LinkedIn profile, 10 recent posts, and engagement numbers, says 'audit this — I'm stuck at 1.4K and growth is dead'.
Output
What's working: carousels outperform text posts by ~3x. Your audience wants structured frameworks, not opinion pieces. Two of your last five posts had a real hook line; both did 4x your average. Scorecard | Area | Score | Key issue | | Profile | 6/10 | Headline is a job title, doesn't convert | | Content | 5/10 | 90% educational, 0% personal — no human signal | | Engagement | 3/10 | Replying to your own comments. Not commenting outbound. | | Positioning | 7/10 | Niche is clear; no differentiator | Priority fixes (3): 1. Rewrite headline this week — biggest profile-conversion lever 2. Add one personal/story post per week — fixes the human gap 3. 10 outbound comments/day on 5 target accounts — your stalled growth is a distribution problem, not a content problem

More from Social Media
Community posts are fundamentally different from social media content — they're not broadcast, they're invitations to participate
Not vague theme suggestions — specific post concepts with hooks, formats, and strategic intent mapped to actual dates
The goal is to write messages that feel like a natural next step in a human conversation — because the moment a DM reads like a sales script, the lead goes cold
The goal is authentic, high-volume engagement that builds relationships and visibility without burning hours
The difference between someone who posts on LinkedIn and a thought leader is that a thought leader has recognizable intellectual property: signature frameworks, consistent themes, and a point of view…
Every word in a bio earns or loses attention. Optimizes profiles platform by platform because what works on LinkedIn will fail on Instagram
