Community Engagement Calendar

Communities don't die from bad content — they die from silence. The Community Engagement Calendar builds 30 days of daily rhythms, weekly anchors, and a monthly peak event so members always have a reason to come back today, this week, and this month.

What this skill does

Most community advice assumes the problem is content. It isn't. The problem is predictability — members need to know that every Wednesday there's a wins thread and every Thursday there's a voice room, because predictability creates habit and habit creates retention. Random great posts don't build communities. A reliable Tuesday teaching slot does, even when the post itself is mid. Silence kills faster than mediocrity, and the calendar's job is to guarantee no day goes silent.

Three layers, working together. Daily rhythms are low-effort, high-frequency — a themed weekday prompt (Win Wednesday, Hot Take Thursday) that's easy to answer in under two minutes and stays varied across the week. Weekly anchors are medium-effort, high-value — one or two recurring events (live Q&A, hot-seat round, co-working session, accountability check-in) scheduled at the same time each week so members can plan around them. Monthly peaks are high-effort, memorable — a challenge, workshop, or signature event that becomes the story members tell others about the community. The architecture works because no single layer is doing all the heavy lifting.

Calibrated to capacity, honestly. A 5-hour/week creator gets a calendar that fits in 5 hours, not the maximalist version that burns out by week three. A 30-member community gets fewer prompts and more depth because daily posts feel forced at that scale. A declining community gets a reboot week that breaks the silence pattern before any normal rhythm restarts — pretending nothing's wrong and starting straight into Monday Motivation when the room's been dead for a month doesn't work.

Engagement mechanics sit alongside the calendar: an automated welcome DM in the first hour (voice note beats text template), a 7-day silence trigger that fires a private check-in, a monthly "lurker love" post that normalises reading-only while inviting participation, and a public weekly shoutout for contributors that signals to everyone else what behaviour gets noticed. Quality gate before delivery: every prompt is specific enough to copy-paste, the weekly anchor has a real time and format, the monthly peak has a prep list, and metrics include targets — daily active percentage, posts/day, event attendance — so the next month's calendar gets adjusted from data, not from hope.

When this triggers

  • ·Your community has gone quiet and you're posting into the void
  • ·You're launching a community and don't want to face the empty-room problem after week one
  • ·You're running on inspiration instead of structure and it's not sustainable
  • ·Members keep asking when the next event is and you have no plan
  • ·You're handing engagement to a community manager and need a calendar they can actually run

Example

Trigger

User: '120-member paid community for freelance copywriters. £49/month. Engagement is dropping. I have ~5 hours/week to spend on this.'

Output

Capacity: 5hrs/week · Size: 120 (small-medium) · Stage: declining Reboot week recommended before reverting to calendar. WEEKLY RHYTHM Mon — Goals: "What's the one client task you've been avoiding?" Tue — Teach: short framework post (15min, you) Wed — Wins: "Share a win — landed brief, killed a project, said no" Thu — Hot take thread: rotating provocations Fri — Off-platform: members post links to recent work WEEKLY ANCHOR Thu 12:00 GMT · 30-min "Open Office" voice room. Drop in with your stuck-on-it brief, leave with three angles. Keep recording in the resources channel. MONTHLY PEAK Week 3: 5-day Headline Gym Challenge. One headline rewrite per day across 5 categories (SaaS, ecom, B2B, fundraising, charity). Members submit, you score the top 3 publicly with reasoning. Generates a month of teaching content as a byproduct. REBOOT WEEK (first 5 days) The calendar resets the room before normal rhythm starts. Day 1: "I noticed it's been quiet — here's what I'm changing" post (honest, not corporate). Day 2: Surprise headline-swipe file drop (no asks). Day 3: Private DMs to 5 most-quiet-recently members. Genuine check-in, no agenda. Day 4: "What killed the energy?" open thread. Day 5: Announce the new rhythm + Thursday voice room. ENGAGEMENT MECHANICS · Welcome DM <1hr on join — voice note, not template · Weekly Friday shoutout: 3 members named · 7-day silence trigger → DM check-in · Pin "lurker post" monthly, normalise reading-only QUALITY GATE Time check: ~4hr/week if you batch Tue + Thu posts together and let the Friday and Wednesday threads run themselves.
