Client Progress Report
Clients lose sight of their own progress. They're too close to the daily experience to see the arc. Client Progress Report compresses weeks of session notes and tracking data into a clean, honest report the client can see themselves in — and the coach can defend professionally. It's a coaching deliverable, not a clinical assessment.
What this skill does
Scope first. This is a coaching report, not a clinical assessment. It summarises session notes and tracking data the coach already holds for behaviour-change purposes. It does not diagnose, does not give medical or nutritional advice, and does not replace a clinician or dietitian. If a report turns up data suggesting something outside coaching scope — significant weight loss without intent, persistent low mood, a metric that's moved the wrong way medically — the coach debrief flags it as a referral question, not a coaching one.
Inside scope, the skill turns scattered inputs into a clean report in a fixed structure. The Headline — one paragraph that leads with the most meaningful progress, honest and grounded, no hype. Your Wins — minimum four to five, both quantitative and qualitative, including the ones the client has overlooked (language shifts, habit consistency, non-scale victories). By The Numbers — a tidy table with start, current, change, target. What's Working — the specific strategies driving results, named so the client knows what to protect. What We're Working On — areas needing attention, framed as opportunities not failures. Focus For Next Period — two or three specific goals. Coach's Note — a genuine personal acknowledgement that references something specific from the sessions.
The skill handles sparse data honestly. If a client hasn't tracked consistently, it doesn't fabricate trends — it acknowledges the gaps, uses qualitative session observations to fill in, and recommends a tracking change for the next period. It runs three analyses before writing: trend (positive, flat, declining at the week-over-week level, not daily noise), win identification (including the non-obvious ones), and barrier pattern recognition (is the same Thursday-evening pattern recurring, has the barrier shifted from motivation to time management — that shift is itself progress).
Two outputs every time: the client-facing report (ready to send) and a private coach debrief. The debrief answers four questions: is the methodology working as designed or does it need adjusting, is this client on track for original goals or should goals be revised, are there red flags suggesting drop-out or referral, and what's the single specific change for next period. Cadence: midpoint and end for 4-8 week programmes, monthly for 12+ week programmes, quarterly for ongoing retainers. Sporadic reports feel like an afterthought; regular reports feel like a professional service.
